Welcome to Petit Clos Chambres d’hôtes, our turn-of-the-century Maison de Campagne located on a 20-hectare farm in Southwest France.
We have two B&B/Chambre d'hôtes double rooms and one 2-bedroom gîte.
Our quaint & charming village of St. Jean de Duras is 1.5 hours east of Bordeaux, 30 minutes south of Bergerac and conveniently located near the many attractions in the Aquitaine region, including the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, historic bastide villages, magnificent chateaux as well as the world renowned vineyards of this region.
We are an American family who decided to trade in the California dream for the south of France and look forward to sharing the joie de vie we have found here with travelers from around the world.

Our spacious & traditionally decorated rooms feature high quality bedding and towels, as well as an antique bedroom set original to the house. Both rooms have en suite bathrooms with a rain shower and offer incredible views overlooking the garden below as well as our vineyard and prairies. We offer free wifi and there is a shared refrigerator, along with complimentary coffee & tea right outside your room.
Our rates below include a generous continental breakfast served between 8-10am in our garden terrace (weather permitting) or interior dining room and includes croissants, fresh bread, local or homemade jams, fresh fruit and juices, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea, chocolate that can easily be adjusted based your dietary needs by request in advance of your stay.

We had a blissful week at Hank's and Cindy's. We couldn't have wished for nicer hosts (not to mention their gorgeous dogs). From start to finish, we were made to feel like it was our home: the place was charming, the surroundings absolutely stunning and they managed the perfect balance of being present and helpful whilst giving us the privacy we needed as we were working remotely. It was the most idyllic week. We'll be back!

Tout est parfait dans cette location, la maison en elle même d'abord typique , décorée avec beaucoup de goût , les salles de bains sont magnifiques et la piscine est la cerise sur le gâteau. Quant à l'environnement naturel et touristique, il est parfait. Cindy et Hank sont très sympathiques et accueillants, je recommande vivement cette location ou toute la famille a hâte de retourner.

5/5. Très belle location au calme, superbe panorama. Restaurée et décorée avec goût. La literie est excellente, de très belles salles de bain. La piscine a été très appréciée de toute la famille avec les fortes chaleurs que nous avons eues. Le panorama fait de collines, de vignes et de champs de tournesol est superbe. Très bien située pour rayonner dans le pays des bastides entre Dordogne, Gironde et Lot et Garonne. Nous reviendrons.
2 BEDROOM GÎTE
Petit Clos Gîte Rural
Our lovely holiday cottage (Gîte) can sleep up to 6 people and includes two bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms that feature large walk-in rain showers (one double room and one room with two single beds that can easily be transformed into a double if desired). Both rooms enjoy a view of our vineyard and pool. There is also a loft upstairs that can sleep 2 people and includes a private toilet and sink. All rooms/loft are located in the original 200-year-old farmhouse and wine chai.
There is a large open plan kitchen and living room and separate dining room as well as your own private BBQ and dining area on the terrace just outside the Gite.
You'll be greeted with a welcome basket including freshly baked bread, cheese, pâté & a bottle of local wine and you will be able to unload your things from your two private parking places just outside the cottage.

Rates 2022
We operate Saturday to Saturday during July and August. We have a 4 night minimum stay at all other times. For a 7 night reservation the prices are as follows:
2 April - 3 June 950€
4 June - 1 July 1200€
2 July - 26 August 1400€
27 August - 23 September 1200€
24 September - 28 October 950€
Closed 1 November 2022 - 1 April 2023
Plus €50 cleaning fee & taxe de sejour (3% nightly cost per adult capped at €2.30 per night)
€500 damage deposit is payable upon arrival and will be refunded on departure subject to a property check by the property owner and assuming no damages or additional cleaning charges are necessary.

Amazing Stay - would highly recommend!
We stayed for a week at the 2 bedroom Gite from Petit Clos. The house is authentically and tastefully decorated and is equipped with everything you need. We had the best bbq sessions, overlooking the vineyard of Hank and Cindy. We would recommend this place to friends without a doubt.

5/5 Blissful! Great accommodation with everything you need and more. The gite was beautifully restored and decorated plus very spacious. Cindy & Hank were fantastic hosts - extremely helpful but never invasive. Can't recommend it high enough and looking forward to returning! PS: Beau and Jango were very entertaining!!!

VINEYARD, POOL & GROUNDS
Vineyard
Petit Clos is located on a 20-hectare farm that is surrounded by vineyards, including our own which produces sauvignon blanc and merlot grapes for the local Berticot Wine Co-op.
Hank loves to share his knowledge about what it takes to keep his vines maintained and healthy in order to have a fruitful harvest each September. Guests are always welcome to join him should they fancy the experience of working on a French vineyard for a few hours during their stay; even if just for a great photo opportunity.
The farm is also surrounded by hiking, biking & riding trails - including a small section of the Vézelay route to Santiago de Compostela - just adjacent to our property.
Pool
Cool down in our shared salt water pool (w/ safety alarm) with expansive views of the surrounding fields and vineyards that offers complete privacy. A new shade structure will help you beat the heat until each evening's sunset that occurs at about 9pm in the summer months. Twinkly lights and pool light will take it from there if you desire an evening dip. The pool is typically open from June - September
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
Petit Clos is on the Route de Vins located between the award winning wine appellations of Côtes de Duras and Bergerac. We can help you manage wine tours and tastings.
Our region is home to many of the most beautiful french villages that are listed under the official designation "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France," along with numerous historic bastide towns such as Eymet and Duras just 15 minutes away.
Châteaux dot the countryside as well as line the Dordogne River where you can rent canoes and witness spectacular scenery that has not changed much over hundreds of years.
The famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux are also in close proximity.
World class golf at Château des Vigiers is just minutes away and there are miles and miles of beautifully scenic hiking, biking and horseback riding trails that begin just outside your backdoor.
Brocantes and special "vide greniers" (flea markets) are held often so you can search for little french treasures to take home.
If fine french food is what you are after, you have struck it rich here in the Aquitaine region known for its gastronomic specialties. Dine out at one of the many fine restaurants in the area and shop for your delicacies at one of the weekly markets.
When you get your second wind in the evening, check out one of the many festive summertime night markets and fêtes.

GETTING HERE
Address: Lieu-dit Petit Clos, 47120 St. Jean de Duras, France
Petit Clos is about a hour and a half east of Bordeaux and 30 minutes southwest of Bergerac with many flights and trains arriving daily to both cities. Rental cars are available at all facilities as you will want to rent a car to tour this region.
Please note that most GPS and SatNav systems often recognize our home address under the original property name of 'Petit Clau'.
When you arrive, be sure to drive past the first house on the right and continue on through the gates to our front entrance. We will greet you and direct you to your private parking space and show you around.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Our Payment Policy (Bed & Breakfast)
First night is due at booking for 2-night stays with balance due 2 weeks prior to arrival (non refundable). 50% deposit due for longer stays. Refund of deposit will be made if cancellation is received 2 weeks prior to reservation (less 15€ admin charge). Accepted forms of payment: Cash (euros), Bank wire transfer or Credit or Debit card through PayPal.

For stays up to 2-weeks:
A nonrefundable 25% deposit is due at booking.
Balance due 60 days prior to reservation.
50% refund of balance paid if cancellation is received 30 days prior to reservation
(less 15€ admin charge)

Balance is due 90 days prior to reservation.
50% refund of balance paid if cancellation is received 60 days prior to reservation

For all cancellations received after our minimum required advance notice, if we are able to re-book the Gîte during all or part of your reserved stay, we will reimburse these amounts.
COVID-19: If a cancellation is due to either contracting the virus or governmental travel restrictions, we will reimburse payments when possible or provide a voucher for a future stay(s)
Linens are included. Electricity will be charged at 0,1001 per kWh if consumption is over 100kWh per week or 15kWh per day for shorter stays. Firewood for wood burning stove can be purchased from owner at €65/per square meter.
